The Southwest Virginia Alternative Living (SwVAL) Expo is far more than just a typical weekend trade show; it is a deep dive into the practical, back-to-nature skills that are making a serious comeback across the Roanoke Valley and beyond.
The weekend was built around a straightforward, refreshing premise: real-world lessons and skills taught by the people who use them every day. Walking the floor, it was encouraging to see an event that bypassed the usual marketing fluff in favor of tangible, turnkey solutions and authentic, homegrown experiences.
